Train at Millbrook Station
Canadian National Railways snow plough in Millbrook preparing to head south to Port Hope to open the rail line for traffic. The railway ran south of Carmel Line on the west side of County Road 10. At this location there is a deep cut in the fields with banks 20 to 30 feet on either side of the rail line. A surprise is waiting for this train crew at this location. They will become stuck and the front of the plough and locomotive will be buried, as indicated the photograph. The railway had to send crews to dig the train out with shovels so it could continue on to Port Hope. These photos were either taken by Laverne Gibson or his father Lambert Gibson. The Gibson farm was east of the CNR crossing on Carmel Line and closest to where the train was stuck. A train crew member probably used the Gibson's telephone to call the railway dispatcher.
